Re-platforming and new design for the OCH jewelry store

The OCH company specializes in selling high-quality jewelry. The client decided to work with our team because the custom platform on which they were operating no longer met user expectations and hindered the further development of the online business. The company lacked innovative functionality that would improve the user experience and increase engagement. After consulting with the Salestube team, OCH decided to build a new E-commerce platform that offered greater capabilities.

Goals of the project

The project aimed to create a modern and functional E-commerce platform that meets the high expectations of today's customers.

Key goals of the project included:

  • Implementing a unique and elegant design: We wanted the new OCH website to stand out with a distinctive, classy look that reflects the luxurious nature of the brand. The design had to be modern and easy to navigate, both on desktop and mobile.

  • Switching to the new Shopware 6 platform: We suggested the client choose Shpopware 6 technology, which provides greater flexibility and the ability to easily integrate with various tools and systems. The Shopware system was to become the foundation of the new platform, allowing the implementation of advanced features and providing a better user experience.

  • Implementing custom solutions: Another important goal was to implement several custom solutions that would enhance the functionality of the store and improve the shopping experience. These solutions included a ring configurator, a calendar for scheduling consultations, a mechanism for adding loyalty cards, and a plug-in for generating product variations.

By achieving these goals, we aimed to create a platform that would not only meet OCH's business needs but also satisfy the brand's customers.

Project challenges

The implementation of the project for OCH required facing several key challenges that had a significant impact on the final design and functionality of the new platform:

  • Data migration and integration with Baselinker: Data migration from a custom solution to the Shopware 6 platform required the precise transfer of product, customer, and order information. Integration with Baselinker included the creation of special order statuses and new fields transferred from Shopware, such as fields for engraving. This allows the customer team to process orders correctly. In addition, it was necessary to configure the SMS API system and email templates in Baselinker.

  • Complexity of the ring configurator: The implementation of this feature was troublesome due to its complexity. The tool had to allow customers to personalize their wedding rings according to various parameters, such as choice of material, stones, or engraving. The configurator had to be intuitive and easy to use while offering extensive personalization options.

  • Management of large product volumes and variants: OCH has a wide range of products with many variants. Efficient management of this data required the development of a system that allowed easy addition, editing, and tracking of products, which was crucial to the smooth operation of the store and convenience of use.

Strategy and approach

Our strategy was based on a thorough understanding of the client's business needs. We conducted a detailed analysis of OCH's requirements to identify key areas that needed improvement. We looked at the system on which the store had operated in the past and gathered information from the OCH team, which allowed us to better understand their expectations and goals.

Based on the data we gathered, we carefully selected the appropriate store functionalities to not only meet the client's business expectations but also to significantly improve the user experience. A key element of our strategy was to create a sleek, modern design that would attract users' attention and emphasize the luxury nature of the OCH brand.

Custom solutions

As part of the project, we implemented several custom solutions to significantly improve the functionality of the OCH store.

One of the key elements was a ring configurator, which allows users to select different materials, add stones, set gold weights, and enter custom engravings.

Another important solution was a calendar for scheduling consultations, which allows customers to easily book appointments at the OCH showroom. This tool enables automated appointment management, increasing convenience for both customers and salon staff.

During development, our team also implemented a product variant generation plugin that automates the process of creating different versions of a given product. Thanks to this tool, store administrators can quickly and efficiently manage a wide assortment of products, which significantly facilitates work and allows to better tailor the offer to the needs of customers.

In addition, we have created a mechanism for adding loyalty cards to support the OCH loyalty program. Customers can easily add a loyalty card to their account, which allows them to take advantage of various promotions and discounts, as well as track their loyalty status.

Another interesting feature added to the new platform is custom product attributes, such as the number of stones or gold weight. These additional parameters allow for precise product descriptions and offer customers detailed information that can be crucial in making purchasing decisions.

Implemented integrations

As part of the project for OCH, we implemented key integrations with Baselinker and user.com systems.

Baselinker: Integration with Baselinker enabled efficient order and warehouse management, automating order operations from placement to delivery.

user.com: Integration with user.com met the needs of customer data management and marketing. The system stores customer data (holders of various loyalty cards) and enables tracking of site traffic, RFM analysis, customer segmentation as well as email and SMS marketing automation. Marketing scenarios include discount reminders, rescuing abandoned shopping carts, and special offers for premium customers. The automation of customer base management and interaction processes has significantly improved the quality of service and personalization of communications.

Results of cooperation

Our cooperation with OCH resulted in the creation of a modern and efficient online store based on Shopware 6 technology. The new platform has significantly improved the user experience by introducing innovative features. Among the most important features for customers are a ring configurator that allows full personalization of products, a calendar for appointments that makes it easier to book consultations at the salon, and a loyalty card system to support OCH's loyalty program. These implementations have made the OCH store more visually appealing and functional, contributing to increased customer satisfaction and an improved overall online shopping experience.
